How far in advance should I schedule the transport of my vehicle? |
| |
We request that you schedule your move as soon as possible to ensure that your car is moved within the time frame which best meets your schedule. However, if immediate transport is necessary, we offer expedited pickup and delivery for an additional fee. |
| |
|
| |
How long does it take? |
| |
Pick-up and delivery dates are estimates only, and are typically not guaranteed. Transit times vary depending on where you are shipping your vehicle. On average, you should allow one day for every 500 miles traveled. Unforeseen problems from mechanical break downs, traffic, and weather all contribute to delays. Additionally, the number of hours in a day a truck driver can legally operate his/her truck is heavily regulated by federal and state agencies. Most importantly, customers may affect transport times. We strongly encourage customers to be on time for their scheduled pickup and/or delivery. Although we understand that last minute changes do occur, we ask that you inform us promptly of any changes to your transport schedule or locations. Make sure you have realistic expectations about when your vehicle will be picked up and delivered. |

| |
How does door-to-door service work? |
| |
Door-to-door means that the truck driver will get as close to your specified pick-up or delivery address as he can legally and safely. Many cities often restrict large trucks and prohibit them from entering into some residential areas. Car carriers can be up to 75 foot long, and drivers will need lots of room to maneuver and turn around. When access to your business or residence is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask that you meet him nearby at a large parking lot or major street intersection. |

| |
Do I need to be present during pickup and delivery? |
| |
Yes, we require you, or a designated person, to be present upon pickup and delivery of your vehicle. An inspection is performed and a contract bill of lading must be signed. If you are unable to be present, please contact Fast-Trac prior to your scheduled pickup and/or delivery date to confirm an alternate contact person. |

What about insurance coverage? |
| |
In addition to being a certified shipper, Fast-Trac maintains ample insurance coverage and strictly complies with US DOT regulations. Your vehicle will be insured against in-transit damage caused by carrier negligence or equipment failure by the carrier assigned to transport your vehicle. We carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in automobile liability insurance, as well as cargo insurance that will protect your vehicle up to its value. Standard insurance practices determine the value of your vehicle - just as if you were in a traffic accident. Total loss or minor external body damage does not include glass or motor/undercarriages. Classic vehicles should have an updated appraisal for insurance purposes. There is no deductible for the customer. |

| |
Can I leave personal items in the vehicle? |
| |
You may leave "soft goods", such as books, clothing, etc. in your vehicle during transport. However, you ship them at your own risk. Personal items are not covered by the transporters insurance nor is any damage that is caused by shifting or breaking of items left in your vehicle. By law, auto transport companies are not permitted to transport household goods, such as furniture, lamps, etc. The US Department of Transportation can fine a transporter up to $10,000 if found to be carrying household goods. Moving companies are the only companies licensed to transport household goods. Hazardous materials, illegal contraband, firearms, etc. are strictly prohibited at all times. |

| |
Will my car go to a terminal? |
| |
No. Fast-Trac Auto Carriers provides door-to-door service only, unless specifically requested by the customer. |

| |
Why does a truck/SUV cost more than a regular vehicle? |
| |
All shipments are based on length and weight that a truck can legally carry. Many vehicles are much larger than traditional passenger vehicles. Most full size SUVs and trucks fit into this category. Because of the extraordinary dimensions and/or weight, these vehicles take up the amount of space normally reserved for two vehicles, thus resulting in the need for an additional fee. |
| |
|
| |
What should I do if the vehicle arrives with damage? |
| |
Auto shipping is typically worry-free, and the vast majority of vehicles are shipped without incident or damage. However, damage does sometimes occur and it is important to understand the process of receiving compensation for the damage. If damage occurs, and you feel it is directly attributable to the shipping process, note all damage on your bill of lading, obtain the driver's signature, and contact Fast-Trac Auto Carriers within 10 days of delivery. We will work with you and the insurance company to reimburse you for verifiable damage sustained to your car. |
